The art of traditional Feng Shui is beeing used for centuries by the Chinese in order to create their cities, their homes and to inhume deceased persons. It studies the way the energy (Qi), which is present in our environment, diffuses and the influence it can have on our everyday life.

Feng Shui literally means “wind and water”. The energy (Qi), which is present in the nature, can be either good or bad. « The Classic says: Qi rides the wind and scatters, but is retained when encountering water. The ancients collected it to prevent its dissipation, and guided it to assure its retention. Thus it (the method) was called fengshui. » (The Zangshu, or Book of Burial, by Guo Pu (276-324),Translated by Stephen L. Field, Ph.D.).

Initially reserved to the Kings and emperors, then forbidden under Mao Zedong’s regime because it was considered to be a superstition, Feng Shui has nevertheless always play a major role in the Chinese’s art of living. Indeed, it is anchored as a taoist wisdom like traditional chinese medecine, acupuncture or martial art. For example, it is said that Feng Shui is to our home, what acupuncture is to our body. Its cultural and social role is therefore fundamental and essential in China’s everyday life.
